South Curl Curl
A shared love of plants and a strong aesthetic vision from the homeowners inspired this project. Collaborating with Peninsula Homes and the owners on this new family home, the result is a cohesive landscape design that seamlessly connects indoors and out.
White painted brickwork, soft pink render accents, and silvered timbers of the building set a beautiful backdrop for an eclectic and hardy planting scheme. Glauca tones flow throughout the front garden planting scheme, anchored by a gnarly Olive tree specimen. To thrive in the exposed coastal location, the upstairs balcony garden features tough, salt-tolerant species including Trailing Rosemary, Chalk Sticks and Opuntia.
At the rear of the home, a lush lawn space and garden connect the outdoor entertaining terrace to the pool space. With hand-shaped sandstone steppers creating a playful yet practical path through the garden
With the house as a buffer to the salt winds, mass plantings of Heliconia bring height and a bold tropical touch around the pool, while oversize screening details provide enclosure and privacy where needed. Soft touches of pink return through a rambling climber planting of Pandorea, and Olive trees also return as informal boundary screen planting tying the front and rear garden palettes together beautifully.
